Preparation of Synthetic Clays to Remove Phosphates and Ibuprofen in Water

The main objective of this study consists in the synthesis a layered double hydroxide (LDH) clay doped with magnesium and aluminum order to test removal phosphates ibuprofen water. Two different LDH composites are assessed: oven-dried (LDHD) calcined (LDHC). Single adsorptions phosphate showed up 70% 58% water, when LDHC was used. A poorer performance observed for LDHD, which presented adsorption efficiencies 52% 35%, respectively. simultaneous water that allows greater reduction concentration both compounds than LDHD. Phosphate close agreement between experimental theoretical capacities predicted by pseudo-second-order model, whereas fitted first-order model. In addition, good fit an intraparticle diffusion model Bangham suggesting into pores controls process. No other mechanisms may be involved adsorption, apart from diffusion. Finally, desorption could recover 59% initial concentration, showing feasibility recuperation compound LDH.
